For many entrepreneurs, the issue is not a lack of ambition, creativity or talent. The larger challenge is access. Access to mentorship. Access to strategy.…

For many entrepreneurs, the issue is not a lack of ambition, creativity or talent. The larger challenge is access.

Access to mentorship. Access to strategy. Access to capital readiness. Access to business systems. Access to the rooms where partnerships, funding and growth opportunities are created.

Baltimore entrepreneur, coach and ecosystem builder Kenya Pope is working to close that gap through the launch of the Greatness Business Builder System, a new business development platform designed to help founders move from survival mode to sustainable growth.

Pope is the founder of Guiding for Greatness Coaching & Development, also known as GFG Coaching & Development. Since 2015, she has supported more than 600 entrepreneurs across various countries, helping founders strengthen their leadership, clarify their vision and build businesses with long-term impact in mind.

Her latest initiative, the Greatness Business Builder System, is designed especially for bootstrapped entrepreneurs and globally minoritized founders who often face barriers to mentorship, funding readiness and strategic support.

“The reality is that many founders are told they are ‘not ready’ for funding, partnerships, or growth opportunities,” Pope said. “But too often, no one shows them what readiness actually looks like. They’re left trying to build businesses without the systems, support, or mentorship that many successful entrepreneurs had access to behind the scenes.”

The Greatness Business Builder System was created to help solve that problem.

Built around what Pope calls “The Circle of Greatness,” the system combines assessments, coaching, templates, quarterly execution frameworks, community support and strategic business education. Entrepreneurs who purchase the system are entered into The Circle of Greatness, giving them access to a structured ecosystem focused on growth, accountability and development.

The platform is intended to give entrepreneurs a clearer path forward. Rather than leaving founders to figure out their business needs alone, the system helps them identify gaps, organize their goals, strengthen their operations and prepare for opportunities that require a stronger foundation.

For many small business owners, especially those building without large financial backing or established networks, that kind of structure can make a major difference. Pope’s work focuses on helping entrepreneurs understand not only what they want to build, but what systems are needed to make that vision sustainable.

The launch also responds to broader economic challenges affecting entrepreneurs in Baltimore and across the country. Many minority-owned businesses continue to face systemic barriers when seeking capital, partnerships and growth opportunities, despite strong ideas, talent and economic potential.

For Pope, the work is more than professional. It is personal.

She credits much of her leadership philosophy to the mentorship she received from her father, whom she describes as her first coach and teacher. Before launching businesses or coaching founders, Pope learned that leadership was rooted in service, dignity and responsibility.

“My father taught me that leadership was never about power over people,” Pope said. “It was about dignity, respect, responsibility, and learning how to care for people while still leading effectively.”

Those lessons shaped Pope early in life, including during experiences where she managed teams of women significantly older than she was. Through that work, she learned the importance of posture, diplomacy, grace and emotional intelligence.

Today, those same values are at the center of her coaching approach.

Pope believes entrepreneurship should not only be measured by profit margins, but also by how businesses care for people, strengthen communities and create pathways to economic mobility.

“When people are cared for properly, profit can follow,” she said. “But when people are overlooked, unsupported, or excluded from opportunity, entire communities miss out on innovation, jobs, wealth creation, and transformation.”

In addition to leading GFG Coaching & Development, Pope has built a multidisciplinary career rooted in service, advocacy, leadership development and healing. Her work includes entrepreneurship coaching, community development and trauma-informed leadership. She has also earned recognition through Tau Upsilon Alpha National Honor Society for human service and holds a National Crime Victim Advocacy certification supporting women impacted by gender-based violence.

Pope is also connected to academic and entrepreneurial development initiatives. She completed her master’s degree in Policy Management Studies at Georgetown University and has participated in programs connected to Wells Fargo and the Watson Institute fellowship ecosystem.

Although Baltimore remains central to her story, Pope says the vision for the Greatness Business Builder System reaches far beyond one city.

“The goal is to help build ecosystems where founders can thrive, not just individually, but collectively,” she said. “This is about creating pathways to sustainability, ownership, collaboration, and generational impact.”

As part of that mission, GFG Coaching & Development will continue hosting programs, partnerships and community-centered initiatives that connect entrepreneurs to mentorship, strategic development and growth opportunities.

The Greatness Business Builder System will launch during IMPACT Baltimore: New Quarter’s Eve Bash on June 20, 2026. The Juneteenth weekend event is designed to bring together entrepreneurs, leaders, creatives and changemakers committed to personal growth, business development and collective advancement.

Through the new platform, Pope hopes to shift the conversation around entrepreneurship from an isolated journey to a shared responsibility.

“Businesses don’t grow in isolation,” Pope said. “People grow through community, mentorship, collaboration, and access. We have to build the village that raises the business.”
