LaTosha Brown is a master strategist, soulful truth-teller, and one of the most electric voices in the fight for democracy. As a co-founder of Black Voters Matter, she has become a nationally recognized force in mobilizing Black communities, advancing civil rights, and reimagining what grassroots power looks like in the 21st century.

But make no mistake—LaTosha Brown isn’t just organizing for elections. She’s organizing for liberation.

At the heart of her work is a belief that voting is not the ceiling of democracy—it’s the floor. Through the movement she co-created, LaTosha and her team have traveled to overlooked, underserved communities in the rural South and beyond—registering voters, supporting local leaders, and shifting the political landscape through love, joy, and strategy.

Her approach to activism is unique: part cultural renaissance, part political power-building, and all rooted in radical Black love. Whether she’s speaking on national news, testifying before Congress, or singing freedom songs at rallies, LaTosha brings a rare combination of depth, charisma, and emotional clarity that inspires action and hope in equal measure.

In addition to her work with Black Voters Matter, LaTosha is the founding director of the Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium, an initiative reshaping philanthropy by investing in the dreams and leadership of Southern Black women and girls. She understands that sustainable change must begin at the community level—where dignity, voice, and leadership are born.

A thought leader and visionary, LaTosha is also a Senior Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School’s Carr Center for Human Rights Policy. Her political analysis is regularly sought after by national media outlets, and she’s delivered keynote speeches from Capitol Hill to global conferences—always with the same message: Black people are powerful, and Black joy is resistance.

With a southern drawl, an infectious laugh, and the spirit of a freedom fighter, LaTosha Brown is not just advocating for a better future—she’s building it. And she’s doing it on her terms: loud, proud, joyful, and rooted in love.

LaTosha Brown doesn’t wait for permission to lead—she leads so others no longer need to ask for permission.
