LaTosha Brown is a master strategist, soulful truth-teller, and one of the most electric voices in the fight for democracy. As a co-founder of Black Voters Matter, she has become a nationally recognized force in mobilizing Black communities, advancing civil rights, and reimagining what grassroots power looks like in the 21st century.

At the heart of her work is a belief that voting is not the ceiling of democracy—it’s the floor. Through the movement she co-created, LaTosha and her team have traveled to overlooked, underserved communities in the rural South and beyond—registering voters, supporting local leaders, and shifting the political landscape through love, joy, and strategy.

Her approach to activism is unique: part cultural renaissance, part political power-building, and all rooted in radical Black love. In addition to her work with Black Voters Matter, LaTosha is the founding director of the Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium, an initiative reshaping philanthropy by investing in the dreams and leadership of Southern Black women and girls. She understands that sustainable change must begin at the community level—where dignity, voice, and leadership are born.

A thought leader and visionary, LaTosha is also a Senior Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School’s Carr Center for Human Rights Policy.
